Řešení problémů je nezbytnou aktivitou pro všechny organizace. Pravdou je, že velká část problémů je neefektivně řešena.  Chronické problémy, které jsme považovali za vyřešené se vrací a možnosti rozvoje zůstávají nerealizované. Mnoho společností vyvinulo množství mechanizmů, kterými se snažily rozšířit možnosti řešení problémů a zvětšit rozsah zlepšení, ale navzdory počátečním úspěchům nakonec ztroskotaly. Tento modul se nezabývá pouze technikami a inovacemi v oblasti řešení problémů a zlepšování, ale také zkoumá povahu problémů a řešení s ohledem na management řešení problémů a zlepšování

Problem solving and improvement: quality and other approaches (T889)

Problem solving is a necessary activity for all organisations. However, it is frequently ineffective: chronic problems that were supposedly solved re-emerge, and opportunities remain unrealised. Although many organisations have had early successes with mechanisms for problem solving and improvement, these have often foundered over time. This course provides a wide range of problem solving approaches, methods and techniques – and their underpinning concepts, principles and theoretical backgrounds – that will enable you to investigate problems properly; and generate robust, effective solutions that are sustainable. It also explores in depth the nature of problems and solutions, and the management of problem solving and improvement.

Projects undertaken as part of the course have led to successful outcomes for organisations as well as for students. For example, one project undertaken in a local authority reduced the average process time for one important operation from 21 days to three.
